FAQ’s

Does chiropractic care hurt?

Well-skilled practitioners are able to carry out chiropractic adjustments with little, if any, pain. Both Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Armour are trained to provide gentle chiropractic adjustments tailored to the individual patient and will be able to predict what your recovery may feel like once they have met and consulted with you in person.

Can anyone be treated by a chiropractor?

Everyone can be evaluated by a chiropractor, but not everyone can be treated. Such exceptions might include patients with progressive neurological damage and other conditions that might not be helped by chiropractic treatment. Patients with osteoporosis may not be appropriate for spinal manipulation, but may be candidates for more gentle techniques. Meeting with a chiropractor for evaluation would be the best way to decide whether or not chiropractic care is right for you.

Both Doctor Kennedy and Doctor Armour are trained to perform a full neuro-musculoskeletal assessment to determine a safe and effective treatment tailored to the individual patient’s needs and situation.

Is spinal manipulation safe?

Chiropractic treatments generally carry a very low risk of complication. A small percentage of patients will experience short-term (24 hours or less) of local soreness following the initial adjustment. This may represent short-term muscle tension or low-grade inflammation from the treatment.

Why do I need to see a chiropractor?

If you are experiencing any pain or discomfort in your joints or muscles, it may be time to schedule an appointment with our chiropractors in Mount Pleasant. Health ailments like frequent headaches or lower back/neck pain that do not respond to current treatment methods may benefit from chiropractic care.

What does a chiropractor do?

Chiropractors provide care for a wide range of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. Spinal manipulation is one of the most common treatment methods that may be used during your appointment. This particular treatment method helps to restore mobility to the affected area. During your appointment, our chiropractors will perform an examination to determine if chiropractic care would be beneficial for your condition.

How often should I go to a chiropractor?

The number of appointments you make to see our Mount Pleasant chiropractors depends on your particular condition. It is generally recommended that you maintain a regular schedule with your chiropractic care, scheduling appointments on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. If your condition requires more treatment, appointments can be scheduled more frequently.

What conditions do chiropractors treat?

Our Mount Pleasant chiropractors focus on treating a variety of conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system. If you suffer from pain or discomfort as a result of an injury or micro-trauma, our chiropractors are prepared to help you overcome the pain through a variety of treatment methods. Conditions that we treat include: lower back pain and neck pain, pregnancy-related pain, pediatric care, repetitive stress injuries, sports injuries, migraines, plantar fasciitis and post-surgical care.

Do I need a referral to see the chiropractor?

No referral is necessary to be evaluated and treated by a chiropractor. We do work closely with other healthcare providers and often receive specific referrals from Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Surgery, Primary Care Doctors, Obstetricians and Midwife’s, Physiatrist’s and Physical Therapists among numerous other healthcare providers; however, no referral is needed to be treated in our office.
