Joseph Armour, D.C.

Dr. Armour completed his undergraduate work at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received his degree in Exercise and Sports Science. He graduated from New York Chiropractic College where he was awarded the Lloyd E. Henby Distinguished Service award. In addition, he was selected for an eight-month prestigious externship program at the Miami VA Medical Center where he worked as part of an integrative healthcare team. While there, Dr. Armour developed his belief in a multi-disciplinary healthcare model which he finds is the key to a quicker recovery.

Dr. Armour’s primary focus is to provide quality patient care and outstanding clinical results with the use of a combination of techniques including manipulation, myofascial release, and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization. He has also completed a 300-hour Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Armour commonly treats a variety of musculoskeletal complaints which include, but are not limited to, low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, facet mediated pain, mechanical lower back pain, headaches, hip pain, shoulder pain, joint pain/tendonitis, repetitive strain injuries, soft tissue and sports-related injuries.

Dr. Armour’s goal is to improve his patients’ quality of life by decreasing their pain, expediting their recovery time and helping them to maintain improved performance. He has a special interest in working with patients with sports and complex spine injuries, in addition, he has experience treating professional athletes in the NFL, NHL, and NCAA. Dr. Armour has also had a faculty appointment as an affiliate assistant professor in the department of neurosurgery at the Medical University of South Carolina since 2012.

After visiting Charleston, SC, Dr. Armour and his wife, Jodi, decided this charming city, with its friendly community, was where they wanted to live and establish their practice. In his free time, Dr. Armour enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, competing in mud runs, playing tennis and wowing everyone with his infamous Italian meatballs.
